As the web trends more and more towards social networking, working your company brand is becoming increasingly more important. Think of your brand as the most important investment you'll make in your business. You need to put time, money and energy into this investment.


On Monday, Ryan gave you a few ideas, here are some more.


Get a good grip on current technologies. If you're a sales website, convert some of your product pictures into videos. A picture paints a thousand words; a video shows a million pixels. Show those products in action.


Once you have that video, share it on social media sites. Get pictures of people wearing things with your brand. Offer contests when people take pictures of themselves wearing or using your brand out in public.


The more people see your brand and logo, the easier it is for them to remember who you are. If they know someone who can use your service, it'll pop into mind immediately.


Also, contact or send small gifts to your customers to say thank you. People always seek recognition, even if it's for buying something. It can be a short call or a small gift, but it means a lot to the customer, whom you've probably just gained for life with just a small investment.

Riding For The Brand

The year is 1865. The Civil War is . . . well, it's not really over. Robert E. Lee surrenders to Ulysses S. Grant in the McLean House near the Appomattox Court House in Virginia. It will be another year before the actual fighting abates. While the eastern half of the country is embroiled in reconstruction, cattle is a profitable commodity in the western United States territories.


Drives will take herds several miles long to and from booming cattle towns. So many cattle drives, in fact, that you could have several traveling the same paths at the same time. Then there are the cattle rustlers. It's been said that during the height of the cattle drives, every third man had been or was a cattle rustler. Everyone from the cattle barons to the small herd ranchers begin branding their cattle, a process already practiced for some four thousand years, but now renewed in earnest. They want their cattle to stand out from everyone else. They also want the public at large to know who they are.


The largest cattle companies of the day (XIT, Aztec Land and Cattle Company, LIT Ranch, and Prairie Cattle Company) presented such a good image, that it was every cowhand's wish to be employed by theses bovine behemoths. And when these cattle companies gainfully employed cowboys, loyalty was the meal of the day. It was called "riding for the brand."
