When we start talking about email campaigns you can quickly see how it is just one piece that will pull many other pieces together. Email campaigns can tie together your Social Media efforts and can increase your natural traffic. Or with the right branding, your email campaign will increase awareness. Email campaigns can build your list etc.


Bottom line is a properly thought out and well constructed email campaign can provide your business with increases in many different areas. It's worth the time to investigate and get the input from knowledgeable people who have had great success.


Email marketing is a low cost avenue. In turn, it can generate high conversion rates. If done correctly, it can give you information to pinpoint your list for the future. You have to think ahead and stay on top of what is trending and what your list considers valuable information. Feed them golden nuggets to keep them continually coming back and eager to see what you'll bring them next.

Email Campaign Newsletters: Best Practices For All!

My email box is FULL all the time... how about yours? Sometimes, it is nearly overwhelming with the amount of pure JUNK that lands in there.


Today though, I received my monthly email from Lena Shore, a graphic designer here in Jacksonville, Florida (www.lenashore.com), and I always look forward to reading it. Then I wondered, what makes her email so special that I WANT to read it every month?


After some careful thought, it became quite clear she gets things right that matter a great deal to me.

Lena combines great elements into her regularly published email campaign and it is an example worth modeling, dare I even say, BEST PRACTICES for small businesses (and large ones, too).


Of course, the information is USEFUL and VALUABLE to her target audience - that's just a core value of any newsletter ... it's the OTHER things that she does well that capture and hold my attention.

  • Legality - Identify yourself and give opt out opportunities.

  • Opt Ins - Keep good records of date and method of opt ins

  • Spam - Remind your list to add you to their address list to stay out of junk mailboxes.

  • Build - Your own list... is the best list. It will take time and commitment to build it but will provide the best results in the long run.

  • Content - Focus on content and information that is important to your readers.
