Keyword research is the topic this week. Ranking well for the most relevant keywords for your business will bring you more traffic and more buyers. Getting the right keywords to bring in buyers is the cornerstone of all your search engine optimization. With the wrong keywords, you are wasting time, energy, and possibly even money. You can't afford to do that and stay competitive.

Possibly one of the biggest problems business owners have when they select our "Done For You Services" is that they are thinking of keywords from the business standpoint. The keywords that matter are not necessarily the ones you think. The keywords that matter are the ones that BUYERS use to find your site and buy from you.

Remember people using search engines to find you don't know the industry like you do. They might not know the terminology of the industry when they type in their keywords to find you.

Yet, going too broad with your keywords can also be detrimental. "Shoes" may sound like an awesome keyword for your shoe store, yet the term is much too generic. The expense of getting enough SEO work to get and maintain a high rank with the term would be astronomical. Ranking high for the generic word Shoes may bring in traffic but it won't bring you the targeted buyers you need if all you sell are Canvas shoes.

Unless you have money to waste, it is vitally important for you to fully research your market from the standpoint of customers so that you find the search terms they'll use to find you. Then you must decide if those words are valuable enough to expand upon or need to be left behind. Following these simple steps will help keep your business moving forward and passing the competition.
